Our Team
Founder
James Irwin formed Safe Passage International in 1985 to create valuable, reasonably priced medical and travel related insurance programs for students, international organizations (e.g., World Bank, United Nations), non-governmental organizations (aid and relief groups), media companies, travel suppliers, and private enterprise. Jim graduated from Georgia Tech with an Industrial Management degree.
President
Edward (Ted) Vandenberg is the President of Safe Passage International. He has been affiliated with Safe Passage for 30 years and helped to create the current Business Travel Accident program. In his recent career, he has held operational and consulting roles for insurance companies and brokers for over 20 years, specializing in technology. Ted is a licensed insurance broker living in Denver, Colorado. He also holds Masters degrees in Business and Technology.
Director – International Programs
Tina O’Brien is Director – International Programs at Safe Passage International. Tina is focused on making a positive contribution to the overall process of covering individuals and groups with exposure to imminent danger that arises from professional travel. Being a small part of that puzzle is an honor and privilege for her.
VP of Business and Company Development
Brendan Snow is a VP of Business and Company Development at Safe Passage International, where he is responsible for new business and overall corporate growth. Prior to joining SPI, Brendan was an investment analyst at Investment Management Associates, and a consultant at World Bank. He enjoys insurance and value investing. Brendan has degrees from Sciences Po, Paris and the University of Colorado.
